CHAT-N-SEW REVIEW

It was quiet and dark at 10:00 a.m. at the Fruitville Library Conference Room on Thursday, May 4, 2006.  The lights were not on and she wondered if she had mistakenly gotten the wrong day for the Chat-n-Sew Class of the American Sewing Guild.  No one was there.  She went out to the hall to see the schedule…Yes…she had the right day and time…but where was everyone?  Suddenly gals began making their way into the room and it soon filled up with happy fingers making things.  Chatting and sewing.  You see you can make and do whatever project you have going, and if you are especially talented you can “chat” at the same time.  We did a button bracelet with elastic, a purse/tote,  a “Hospice signature quilt”, cut out a pattern for a jacket, fixed a sewing machine, sewed ditty bags for SPARCC, and made “magic lantern” quilt blocks.  We did it all and had fun at lunch too, sampling the goodies brought by each gal.

Learning from others is one of the most fun things about a chat-n-sew…there’s no pressure to finish anything…just have fun.  Everyone learned something new and went away knowing that the friendships will go on and on, learning will be a big part of the picture and “you can’t take the calories out of the carrot cake”.
