A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT
January/February 2010
Well here we are at the
beginning of a New Year ! ! 2010! I look forward to this year as your president
with enthusiasm! We have a new Chapter Advisory Board (CAB)! It’s great to have
some new members on the board this year, and I am excited to be working with
them. From community service projects, teaching the youth sewing, fall bazaar,
Spring Fling, sewing retreats, bus trips, special events, purse challenges and
fashion shows to our annual meeting. Wow! We are a busy chapter! Let’s get even
busier this year! It takes many hands to accomplish all that we do! May the
“Spirit of Volunteering” help us get involved in our Chapter.
For those that do not know me, I am a native of Florida, born in St. Petersburg, and moved to Sarasota in 1986. My daughter Tiffany and her family live in Palmetto. I have 3 wonderful grandchildren and two cats. I own and operate Kreations by Kathleen, an alteration and dressmaking business in Bradenton. I joined ASG in 1994, went to the annual meetings and events whenever I could and joined Pins and Needles Neighborhood Group. In 2007, Creative Sassy Sewers was born and I became the leader of this “hands on” Neighborhood Group. I love to sew and create. What better place to do it than with my sewing family of ASG.
I hope you will "Catch the ASG Spirit” this year! Bring a friend; show a friend; teach a friend. Get involved in your chapter. By giving you will also be receiving! Help our chapter grow this year with your many talents! By doing so means that we can give more back to our members and community!
Our board meetings will be held the 2nd Saturday of each month, 9-11:30am at Alma Sue’s Quilt Shop. We are delighted to be able to meet there and extend our thanks to them for this opportunity! With the exception of the January meeting,, the board meetings are open to all members. Communication is vital for our board members to do their jobs and we welcome your interest! Feel free to contact me or any board member with any questions or concerns that you may have. We are here for you!
Happy creating and stitching!
Kathleen
