We need your help! It’s time to get our c a n d i d a t e s together for the Board of Directors, ASG Sarasota/Gulf Coast Chapter. We have many offices to fill on the board, “sew” we need you to step up. I know we are all busy with our own lives, but if you could help us out, we thank you. If we do not fill these seats, we could loose our chapter. I think we have come too far to let this happen. We have so many wonderful members and good hard workers among us, but we are in need of leaders/members for our board. Please think about it. You could come forward alone, or share the office with a co-person.
I am getting very excited as the time gets closer to ASG Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 16 through July 30. I will be attending July 15 Presidents’ Day. I love that day as we find out what’s coming up for 2010. I have always learned a lot at these meetings. Problems are heard and solved, questions are answered, and you get to renew friendships from other years. On Thursday, the sixteenth of July, classes start. There are a lot of new teachers this year, so I’ve signed up for classes with many of them in order to get some new material and ideas.
I heard that the “Sewing Retreat” was enjoyed by everyone that attended, so much sew, they are planning another one in the Fall. Maybe, I can go to that one. I had to miss the last one, because I had to attend the Regional Meeting that same weekend.
Marie Gartley, Kathleen Heinicke and Eva Winter are getting all set up for the “4-H Sewing Day Camp” on June 22, 23.and 24 at Palmetto, FL 4-H Building. This is a new venture for our chapter. Many of our members have signed up for teaching sewing to students 5 to 18 years of age. I’m sure it will be a success. You will be hearing more about that later.
Don’t forget to make pillow cases for Community Service for Ronald McDonald House in Albuquerque. I will be taking half with me and the rest will stay here and be given to local uses within our chapter. Please get them to me by the 1st of July. We will also be having our Annual Meeting coming up in early November—more on that later.
